Module 2: Kingdom Monera – Study Resources

I made this crossword puzzle to practice vocabulary from Module 2. Note: This is the crossword I handed out at lab. I included the “official” vocabulary list plus some other terms discussed in Module 2 that I thought were important and useful to review. The terms used here are the same ones I included in our bingo game that we played during lab. 😊 I found quite a few additonal resources for Module 2, check them out below.

Additional Information

Genetic Recombination – an illustration and more details

The page linked below has information that is more advanced than our book gets into and really goes into the details of each method of genetic recombination and introduces some terminology that may be unfamiliar (vertical and horizontal gene transfer, bacterial competence, etc.), so it’s OK if the text seems hard to understand – it’s beyond the scope of this course! If you want to read some more detailed information about bacterial reproduction, though, it is very well explained! ðŸ˜Š The main reason I’m posting this link is for you to scroll down a bit to Figure 1 – it’s a good illustration to distinguish between the three types of genetic recombination (transformation, transduction, conjugation) in an easy to understand way.
